Thurs 5-22-03
Calle, Li in Sweden, Leroy, Pat, Sakti, Robert at
Stanford
We had four avatars in the world, plus all four in Talker. Li was able to move
around and transmit and receive audio. Li has a 3 Mbps connection, so the problems
with Calle could be due to the network. The audio quality with Calle was still
poor, and again he could interact with the world.
Another issue that we noticed is that the perspective of the world was different for each of the users. For example, Leroy saw Robert standing next to the wall, but in Robert's window he was standing next to the gurney. This meant the positions of each of the avatars was not being broadcast to all the other users. This problem eventually went away.
A problem that was particular to Robert was that he could not see Calle's avatar in the world. Robert only saw Leroy, Li and himself, while everyone else could see all four people. Again this points to a problem with information being correctly broadcast to all the participants.
We also did a quick test with the audio quality using Yahoo messenger, and the results were better than Talker with Li, Sakti, and Robert in the conference.
Next meeting scheduled for Tues 5-27
Today we managed to have four simultaneous avatars and 4 simultaneous talkers.
Sakti joined us from New Deli, India and the other three were LeRoy, Kingsley,
and Robert all at Stanford.
